How much of a pump.fun coin is gone before anyone can buy?

22%

In more than 1 in 5 launches, at least a tenth of it. Of the 1,435,929 coins launched on pump.fun from 2026-09-30 to 2026-10-29, the dev and the wallets buying in the coin's very first block took 10% or more of the supply in 22% of launches, and a quarter or more in 8%. 28% of launches had other wallets buying in the block the coin was created in, which nobody can do by clicking buy. And 12,825 more were bought out entirely in one bundle.

What it means for you

  • A launch block is not a crowd. Buying in the same block a coin is born in takes a bundle with the launch or a bot watching for it, so those wallets are the launch, not early fans.
  • Most devs buy their own coin as they create it (78% of launches); usually a sliver (0.4% of the supply at the median), but a tenth or more in the top tenth of launches.
  • Follow the money: in 21% of launches with first-block buyers, at least one was paid by the dev or by the same wallet as another first-block buyer, and that's only the direct trail. The card follows it further.

How we measured it

  • Every pump.fun launch since 2026-04-18, and every buy on its bonding curve in the block the coin was created in, from the chain. The dev's own buy rides in the creation itself. The headline numbers are the last 30 complete days.
  • Shares are of the coin's whole supply. Instant migrations, bought out entirely in one bundle, are counted apart.
  • A first-block buyer counts as linked when the first SOL that wallet ever received came from the dev, or from the same wallet as another first-block buyer of the same coin.

What it doesn't tell you

  • One block is a fraction of a second. Bundles and bots keep buying in the blocks right after it, and those aren't counted here.
  • The funding link here is one hop. Many linked wallets are funded through a middle wallet or an exchange, so the true share is higher.
