Who really buys a pump.fun launch?

24%

Often, groups of linked wallets. On the 1,000 pump.fun coins the most wallets traded from 2026-10-29 18:00 UTC to 2026-10-30 18:00 UTC, linked wallet groups made a median 24% of the buying in each coin's first minute, and half or more of it in 33% of coins. By the time the crowd shows up they've mostly sold: they still held a quarter or more of the supply in just 2% of those coins.

What it means for you

  • The early chart is often them. In 33% of the coins people trade most, the first minute was mostly linked wallets, so the "crowd" you're chasing can be a few groups.
  • They don't stick around: groups still held a quarter of the supply in only 2% of these coins when we looked. Buying late usually means buying from them.
  • A clean dev record isn't enough on its own: 75% of these coins came from a dev wallet's first launch. The card follows the groups and the money instead.

How we measured it

  • The 1,000 coins the most wallets traded on pump.fun's curves and PumpSwap in the 24 hours from 2026-10-29 18:00 UTC to 2026-10-30 18:00 UTC, each read from its live Hidden Hand card, the same card the panel shows.
  • A linked group is wallets that act as one: they sign together, fund each other, or buy the same coin at the same moment. A group counts in a coin when several of its own wallets are in it.
  • First-minute buying is the SOL bought in a coin's first 60 seconds. Holdings are the share of the supply in the groups' wallets when we read the card.

What it doesn't tell you

  • These are the coins people trade most, not every coin.
  • It's one day's coins, and it moves: the same reading was 54% on 2026-10-22. Take it as a level, not a constant.
  • Groups are found from how wallets behaved over the last 30 days, so a brand-new group can slip through: the true shares are, if anything, higher.
  • Being in a group isn't proof of anything shady on its own. It's a pattern worth seeing before you buy.
