What it means for you

  • Nobody reads a ticker and clicks buy in 0.4 seconds. The first wallets into a coin are software watching for new launches.
  • A launch with no buyers is normal. 49% of launches get 2 outside buyers or fewer, so a new coin's existence says nothing about demand.
  • An outside buyer isn't always a stranger. This counts wallets, and a dev's other wallets look just like anyone else's.

How we measured it

  • Every pump.fun launch from 2026-10-01 to 2026-10-21, each followed on pump.fun and PumpSwap through 2026-10-29.
  • The dev is the wallet that signed the coin's creation. An outside buyer is any other wallet with a buy.
  • Times are from the moment the bonding curve was created to the wallet's first buy. Bought in the launch block, that can be a few milliseconds.

What it doesn't tell you

  • Wallets aren't people. Linked wallets count as outside buyers here, so the real crowd is smaller. Linked groups have their own page.
  • It says how fast the first buy lands, not how much it buys or who sent it.
